    Need help on inherited Shotgun

I inherited a Ward Western Field Model 30-SB562A 12 GAUGE SHOTGUN. I am having a hard time finding info on it and was wondering if anyone here knows much about them. I hoping to lube it and put a through rounds down it but want to make sure it's safe to shoot.

Sounds like it may be a Savage/Stevens model 520 or 620 pump action made for Montgomery Wards, they were fairly common in the 1970's and early 80's

Trapper hit the nail on the head. It was made by Stevens and the original model number was 520.

If you have any doubts whether it is safe to fire then take it to a gun smith and have it checked out. If there is no damage or serious neglect it should be good to go but having it checked is the safe thing to do.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

I did a pretty good inspection and i feel that it is safe to shoot. The hard part right now is trying to find a schematic that is somewhat clear.

Any one have a pdf? lol

A quick google search netted this...

John M. Browning design. 2 3/4" shells. Take it to the range!

Just think, in another 20 or so years, that gun will still work but no one on the planet will know what the #$#@ Montgomery Ward was. :-)

My first shotgun is a rebranded Mossberg 500 purchased at Monkey Wards. I just learned to shoot skeet with it about a month ago. Still a great shotgun in great shape

I seem to be having problem putting shells into the mag tube. It doesn't seem to catch the shell so the shell goes half way pass the follower so i can't work the action and pump it. I have to get a screw driver and push it back into the tube. I'm going to post pictures later to see if i can get some help diagnosing what it is wrong. I'm thinking a part has gone bad or it just needs to get field stripped and lube real well again
