    Browning Citori, does it have...?

Does the Citori have the lineage of Browning's Superposed design at all?

I was admiring both of these fine shotguns today, and so I thought I'd ask.

    Thanks

I saw the beginning of the your topic on the sidebar and thought it said, "Browning Clitori", and thought there was some plural of clitoris that I had never heard before...I have no answer for you, I just thought I'd share.

BTW, question for Browning: Did you not see this happening when you named the thing?

I prefer Beretta Silver Pigeons (lighter) but the Browning Citori is an equally fine firearm. I've taken clay shooting instruction several times and more than half the instructors used a customized Citori. The rest had Beretta, Guerini, or others.

As for your exact question, I have no idea as I tend not to dwell on details like that. If it handles well, shoots accurately and reliably and is esthetically pleasing, my curiosity stops there and I just keep shooting. O&Us are pretty simple machines. A well-made one works for a century if kept well. I don't need to know more. I don't care about the organic chemistry details of a fine Scotch like Lagavulin or a cigar like a Bolivar—I just enjoy it. But that's how I roll.

I thought all of the Browning O/U shotguns were of the Superposed design since 1931? and then Browning's son perfected the single trigger and added that to the design a few years later. making all of the them the Superposed design John Browning created.

No...it has some simular design features such as inertia triggers, basic same dimensions, same lock-up.....but not much more.

The original Superposed was reintorduced in 1983-1988 as a B-25 , and if I recal, the base price was in the 2500....the 80's Citori grade 1 was about 700.00 at the time.

Cost to produce it took it from a working mans gun to another price range.

I'll be sure to check out the Beretta Silver Pigeon as well. I just really enjoy renting the Citori at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays. I think it's a fine gun. I think I shot a Beretta Onyx once but that was when I was younger, so I don't have any recollection of it.

I'd call myself detail-oriented, hence my asking of questions that don't matter too much at the end of the day. I certainly understand your point.

I just think I'd like a fine O/U along with a nice watch someday.

As for your alcohol and tobacco references, you sir, have good taste.

I actually saw that link right before I made this thread. And reading about the Superposed just made me wonder about the Citoris, since they're in the same family. All I know about the Citoris is that they're very fine shooters (I always rent the White Lightning which I believe is a Field Grade) and that they're made on the same machinery as Miroku guns.

As for the gentleman that said the name was similar to "clitoris." Yeah, the name is certainly weird. I actually have no idea how it's pronounced.
