Benelli M1 sight change possible?

I was wondering if it was feesible to change the sights on a rifle sighted M1 to a ghost ring set up. I heard that the rifle sighted M1's have the sights soldered to the barrel. I just stopped by the dealer today and they have an M1 with the ghost ring sights but I've got my eye on a rifle sighted one that will cost a lot less.
