    School me on recoil pads

Recoil Pads. I have a couple of shotguns that I'd like to get some recoil pads for. I don't know anything about them, so can you guys fill me in. One of my shotguns is a mossberg 500, the other is an old no name. Basically I don't want to bruise my shoulder, and want my girlfriend to fire it too.

The Knoxx CompStock is a real recoil reducer, especially if you run your shotgun all day. Watch the videos at www.knoxx.com. They are awesome and install easily. I installed one on my Remington 870 Express Magnum in less than 1 hour. Great for the gals. Worth the money.

The Pachmayr Decellerators and the Limbsaver pads are some of the best but have to be fitted.

I actually wear a Bob Allen Recoil pad on my shoulder when shooting my Stoeger SxS... And it really cuts down the chance for briuising to about half

Plus it can be used for any firearm you own seems how it is worn on your body instead of the shotgun or rifle...

the limb saver from sims vibration labs is really nice. I have used a few different brand on my shot guns and I have found this to be the best for me for an affordable price.

Cabela's has a couple of shoulder-mounted pads as well. They strap-on over your shoulder and upper-chest area. I've seen special shooting shirts with built-in pads but don't recall where unfortunately.

As mentioned, the Limbsaver and Pachmyr Decelerator pads are very good felt recoil reducers. These are not just rubber buttpads, they are of some kind of special high-tech construction. They are also called gel pads. We used a Limbsaver during three-day combat shotgun training courses and it's almost like shooting a .22, they really are that good.

I believe the Remington R3 pad is a private label version of a Limbsaver.

Limbsaver makes both fitted and slip-over pads. The slip-over pads are quick and inexpensive, but the fitted pads look factory when properly ground down.

Even though we now offer a hydraulic recoil reducing stock system, we continue to recommend Limbsaver pads as a quick, easy and relatively inexpensive solution to felt recoil. We only wish they made one for the M4 SOPMOD stock we sell, but we simply glued one on to the back of one of our stocks at it works great.
