5908 is a lot code. I don't think they mixed the date up in it. Should be 9 pellets in each shell.

The M19 in that type of packaging was from mid WW2 through the late 1960's. I've seen really clean boxes of ten unfired shells go for > $50 on the collector market, but not in a few years. Price probably lower now considering the economy.

Is the whole shell brass? Pretty cool. I've only seen that kind of shell in really high power loads, but then again I've only seen it once or twice before.

That was how they used to be way back when. The military re-introduced them in WW2 because paper shells they adopted post WW1 and jungle fighting did not mix. They stuck around in inventory until the late 60's when the adoption of the plastic hull made them finally obsolete.

Every gauge at one time or another has been loaded in brass hulls.
I have two boxes of aluminum 3" .410 loaded with #6 shot. Made for the Tenite stocked Stevens .22/.410 O/U, used for a survival gun in the B-29's and B-52's. The gun has the bottom of the receiver stamped USAAF, and the .22 barrel has about 1/4" hacksawed off the end to fit in the B-29 airframe.
Collectors jump on those Brass 12ga boxes, as well as the .410, and .22 Hornet made for the survival guns. They had to load the Hornet with a 45grain FMJ to comply with the Hague Convention, but some boxes have softpoint ammo and were labeled:
"Under no circumstances is this ammunition to be used for offensive or defensive measures against enemy personnel. This ammunition is provided for use with your emergncy survival rifle for the killing of game for food under emergency survival conditions only."
                  Yeah right!
