    CA "approved" list for shotguns?

I wasn't able to find an "approved list" for shotguns in CA. Is there one? Are there any O/Us or sporting type guns that are unapproved? Thanks!

There is not approved list for shotguns. There's a banned list, and a list of features you cannot have. If you want to know if your firearm is legal here check the flow chart. http://www.calguns.net/caawid/sgflowchart.pdf

In general O/U shotguns are legal here so long as they're not NFA.

Can someone please confirm that a shotgun, semi-auto, with a pistol grip and adjustable stock is illegal based on the flowchart? An AR-15 gets around this issue with the bullet button, but a shotgun, which is tube fed, hence no magazine, appears that it cannot have the "evil" features? Any thoughts...

            Confirmed - PC 12276.1
            (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall
also mean any of the following:
            ...
            (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following:
            (A) A folding or telescoping stock.
            (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip.
            (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a
            detachable magazine.
            (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
The flowchart is VERY carefully constructed to represent the PC. There is no connection whatsoever between the 'features' on a shotgun and those on a rifle, beyond being in the same section of the PC. You cannot use one set to evaluate the other.

Only if the stock folds or telescopes - it's a THREE feature test,

                semiautomatic shotgun
                AND
                pistol grip
                AND
                folding/telescoping stock.
