    reduce mossberg recoil

i just recently picked up a mossberg 500 tactical with pistol grip and ati telescoping stock, and the recoil to me is absolutely brutal.

can anybody recommend me a good front grip, and if possible a barrel with a muzzle brake on it

    thanks for the help guys

Brutal? There's a lot of recoil from a 12ga. shotgun for sure, but I'm willing to bet money that you're not shouldering it correctly. Failing to shoulder a shotgun properly is the biggest cause of people complaining about getting shoulder bruises, smacked in the jaw, etc. I've seen women and children that couldn't be more than 125 pounds shoot a 12 gauge like it's nothing, simply because they took the time to learn how to shoulder it correctly.

Figure that out before spending extra money(btw, a brake isn't going to help as much as you think it will, holding it correctly will do more for you).

^What he said. Shouldering the gun properly will make the recoil seem far less. Make sure you have a good stance. And a little thing that helped me when I learned was push with your front hand and pull with your rear hand, as if you are trying to pull the gun in half. I know that sounds funny but it actually helped once I figured out what they were saying to me.

like others said shouldering it right will make the biggest difference. I doubt any of the mods you mentioned will help with recoil. If you want a device to help a lot of people swear by the blackhawk knoxx stock http://www.blackhawk.com/product/spe...,1158,1447.htm

BTW, there's one other thing I'd like to add.

Either watch a lot of videos about shouldering a shotgun, or find someone else who knows what they're doing and have them show you. The reason why I say this, is because if you go to the range trying to adjust yourself after every shot, it may be on the 5th shot that you've finally got it mounted right but you've already beaten yourself up and it still doesn't feel correct, so you keep on trying different things that don't work. Once you've seen the difference or been shown how you're doing it wrong, it'll be a lot easier to figure out how to do it correctly.

First off, get rid of that ATI stock, and get a Hogue 12" LOP stock, throw the small slip on LIMBSAVER on it (Walmart $20). Look into a shotgun training class.

as stated by others (I agree w/them) Shouldering the shotgun properly is one of the most issues Ive noticed new shotguners have prolems with. Take a class to properly learn how to use the Moss 500. If your purchase was also for Home Deense Mike Raahuages has a HD Shotgun Clinic for $50. I also reccomend the limbsaver for $20 from walmart

good luck and enjoy your shotgunin

Thanks guys. Yea I am most likley not shouldering it right. I can shoot my rifles (Mauser.mosin etc) just fine but the shotgun kicks my butt.

I will look into the visa when I get home from work. Also I can handle my supernova tactical just fine
