    20g or 12g semi-autos w/ quick changing barrels?

Goin' shoppin' this weekend. Gonna be pokin' around and lookin' at 12g and 20g auto loaders that have quick changing barrels (somewhat like a Mossberg 500) and wonderin' what models I should keep an eye out for. Should we decide on a shotgun, this would be a combination home defense/clays/hunting gun. For what it's worth, we already have a Mossy 500.

    Requirements:
12g or 20g semi auto shotgun
Decent capacity (lets say 5 rounds min)
Both short and long barrels readily available, affordable, and easy to change (ideally without tools)
Medium (12.5-13.5") length of pull is ideal

    Thanks.

Just about all SA's will fit your bill except the LOP....most are in the 14-14.5 range....a youth model will be in the 13.25 to 13 3/4 range.

    Happy shopping

Is that right? Any that have particularly affordable and easy to source barrels?
How are the various Remington and Mossberg SA's in this department (common at my local shops)?

BAH! That's the thing I hate about shotguns. Why are the LOP's so long?

It's hard t find the youth models in stores.

Neat gun (really neat), but doesn't quite fit the bill of this purchase. :-)

Berretta 3901 Citizen and cut the stock down or a 3901RL Target (RL stands for reduced length).

Since you are going with a semi-auto, I would look at 12 gauge. If you get the 20, you will end up eventually getting the 12. Semi's eat up recoil well.

Anyone know where you can get a shorter barrel for those?

I'm a huge Mossberg 930 fan. I also just purchased a mossberg SA 20 for my gf too, and its an incredibly fun gun to shoot.

If you're looking for something thats cheap and good.... take a look at those two.

                  ><

If I were to have an HD shotgun it would be a Browning A5Buck

Hard to find but worth the effort.

Well after messing around with a lot of stuff at the local gun shops we went with a Mossberg 930 tactical. Gonna be ordering up a longer barrel for clays here pretty soon.
