Cutting synthetic stocks

I have a Stevens 350 security that has a long LOP for me. I'm thinking about cutting a few inches off of it, has anyone tried cutting a synthetic stock before? Not sure if it is completely solid or if there is a buffer material in a hollow space. If it is possible, what would be the best tool to use, or should I just bring it to someone?

I cut them all the time . I use a 10'' mitre saw, be sure to take off the recoil pad and see how much material there is to replace the recoil pad screws, on some stocks there is not enough??? if good just scribe a line along the end of the stock at desired length and cut. You will now need to grind down the pad to this new dimension... fill the stock with soft foam or expanding foam and reattach pad. ps.. make sure stock is SQUARE on the saw.

We've done it after first filling them with bondo. Well, technically what we do is fill them with Bondo, then send them to Bolsa Gunsmithing where they treat them just like any old wooden stock.

Thanks all for the great info but I'm not very handy and this is starting to be more than I can comfortably tackle. Anyone know the minimum LOP of a Choate pistol grip stock (for the Ithaca 37) installed on a Stevens 350?
