looks pretty stock with a typical, cheesy buttstock sleeve

but aip should hook you up, nice Mesa Tactical gear and all

The Rem 25077 is close minus the wood furniture and ghost ring.

You'll be fine as long as you follow the guidelines from aiptactical. A no-frills 870 with side saddle and bead sight should be sufficient for most, I think.

                Cmace22,

Before you buy anything, figure the price of the gun and all the extra parts, you want to add and compare it to what JD, sells a like model for.

You like me, shoot left handed, Remington has a RH Eject with a Left Hand Safety, you can also get that from JD too.

Call him and talk to him, he will not be offended, if you don't buy from him.

stay away from the "trak-lock" ghost ring sights. Get LPA or Vang's sights. The trac-locks have no "witness marks" so repeating a sight setting is very difficult if not impossible, especially for windage. They are also "unprotected", meaning they stand out and are susceptible to damage should your gun take a hit on the receiver. I'm sure JD can fix you up.

May just run with the bead up front. I wont be running slugs and 00 isn't a precision load.

burris speed bead, it has a mount just for 870s, mounts between the receiver and stock.

Thats pretty interesting. Although If I went red dot Id probably run it on a picatinny rail.

Beads are just fine and my personal preferrence. I have acceptable "Minute of Man" accuracy out to 100 yards (with slugs) with my plain jane Mossberg 500 ATP8 (pictured in my avatar). I have Ghost Rings and Rifle Sights on various SGs, but for speed, gimme a bead.
I haven't gotten my head around optics on a SG for self defense yet, for competition I see the advantages and perhaps I will go to the "Lighted Side" in the future as I have for my rifles....the Trijicon RMR looks like a candidate to me. Small, robust and nuclear. The SG is a primitive weapon, effective but primitive. Sure you can add enough tacticool crap on them to look all "Buck Rogers", but a pump gun is a simple tool and simple is good in a fight. A white light, side saddle or butt cuff and you're good to go for Self or Home Defense.
