870 Vent Rib Barrel for HD?

Is there an advantage to having a Vent Rib Barrel, on a HD Shotgun?

Only if you plan to let off so many shots that you actually need it to still see your bead. Personally I say no.

Yes, the same advantage as on any application and that is that it is a very fast and effective sighting platform. Way faster then a plain bead on the barrel or even on a base on the barrel. You do not have to line up the bead on the top of and center of the reciever to sight. You have a long plane to sight down and it is very fast. Add a tritium or high viz bead on the end and you have a perfect barrel for a fighting shot gun.

I do not understand why they will not make them in 18.5" for the 12ga. Remingon does not have any shorter then 21" for the 12ga, yet they make an 18.5" VT BS for the 20ga. I think it is simply a demand issue as most people do not want them since they belive it makes their weapon looking like a sporting gun. I would use them and I feature the 20ga one on my 20ga custom builds.

I have sent several clients to Steve Rose to have their long VT barrels cut down to 18.5" and threaded for Rem Chokes. All are very happy with these barrels on their HD.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
