    Mossberg 930 SPX Safety?

Just wondering is replacing a safety on a SPX easy to do, I can only assume you place the safety in the locked position (rear towards you) and unscrew and replace with new one? Or is there some gunsmitthing required? I would really appreciate the steps or links in doing this.

    Thanks!

I was able to unscrew mine, and replace it without any problems. No special procedure.

Was the safety set to the rear or forward before you unscrewed the original safety, I hear alot that if this is position wrong the part underneath the safety can fall apart into the receiver can any members confirm this? Thanks in advance!

are you trying to install a third party after market safety or just a replacement? I would imagine that it would of come with instructions or it would be easy enough to know the parts that need to be replaced

hopefully some peeps can chime in, i know alot of them have the 930's

Ya, trying to install a aftermarket oversize safety and just wanted to see if any member have done this before. What is hear is that as long as you lock the safety to the rear(towards you) your good to go and unscrewing then replace with a new one. But wanted clarification with anyone that's physically done this with some tips or step-by-step?

I have a 930, but haven't tried replacing the safety yet so I can't help other than to suggest looking or asking here:

A calgunner runs the site and its got some great info in the 930 section. Best of luck!

I ended up using a good old flat head and brute force to get the security screw off. Make sure you lock the action to the rear, there's a small detent ball and plate under the safety that could fall out. It's terribly simple. Be sure to get some loctite in there once you've installed your new safety.
