Practical shotgun competition in the bay area?

Are there any regular practical shotgun competitions in or near the bay area? Seems like this would be the way to hone one's hd skills.

Chabot has a multigun match every 1st and 5th Sundays of the month. They are usually two firarms. (Either pistol/carbine, pistol/shotgun, pistol/back-up pistol).

This is NOT a match for beginners, so you would need to contact EFudd (Calgun username) to get the requirements.

My club, the RRGC (Richmond Rod & Gun Club) also has a pure shotgun match coming up soon. If memory serves me correctly, it will be in June. (But double-check on that). We also have a multi-gun practice every 1st Saturday of the month, where you can practice with your shotgun and carbine simultaneously.

Let me also say that these matches and practice sessions ARE NOT for beginners, and there are specific requirements needed before attending these classes or practice sessions. CLICK HERE to read-up on it a bit more.

We have great shooters in Nor Cal (sectional and national champions), so if you keep your eyes and ears open, there is definitely a lot of opportunity for your shotgun growth!

Chabot's shotgun/pistol match is June 5th and Richmond's Shotgun match is June 26th, IIRC.

Chabot would be more practical, slugs and buckshot (40-50 rounds) with limited birdshot.
Richmond will be more gamer with all birdshot and a couple of slugs/buck.

If you have competed in a single gun match and feel comfortable drawing and transitioning hot weapons come on out.

Shotgun match at Richmond Rod & Gun will be Sunday June 26th. 5 stages of primarily birdshot. Engaging steel targets such as plate racks, poppers, texas stars. Clay targets, static, swinging and flying. Like Joelogic said , not many slugs, but that also keeps the cost for the shooter down a little.

        From Richmond Hotshots website http://www.richmondhotshots.com/

Attention New Shooters: The Richmond Safe Handgun Competitor classes are offered at Richmond. New shooters will now be required to attend one of these classes to be able to shoot any of the matches. Classes will be held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Due to the overwhelming want to take these classes, we are now requesting a non-refundable pre-payment of $25 to hold a slot for the class. Please contact Bill Lepior for instruction on who to send it to. For more info go to the Intro to Ipsc page. If you would like to read or download the booklet click here under the "Attention New Shooters"

To help introduce new shooters to the sport of IDPA, we created an Introduction to IDPA booklet to help explain the sport and its rules.

Yep.. I should have the rules posted for action shotgun soon.. will likely keep the same rules as last year.. 4 divisions.. Open, Limited, Field, and Cowboy.. Field is based on the old reliable Mossberg 500's 5+1 capacity.. There will NOT be a stage with 2 Polish plate racks this year.. at least not at 15 yards like last time... seems fully open chokes will not positively take the plates off of that rack.... I am trying to work out some kind of aerial clay target(s) that come from behind and are only engageable for a second or so.. and they will likely be bonus (for time off if hit).

Thanks everyone, all very useful information. I don't have any other guns so I'm not looking into the multi-gun type competitions. I'll definitely check out those places specially since both are accessible to me, Chabot is just a couple of miles from my place and Richmond is pretty close to Berkeley where I work.
