I'm considering an AR 410 upper or a saiga 410, both will cost close to the same
What are the opinions on which to buy if i go that route?
    thanks

I would get the Saiga. From what Ive read the 410 upper isn't very reliable.
Also it would be easier to get mags for the saiga.

I just happen to have an upper in 410 and let me start off by stating that they are very ammo sensitive. Not all 410 ammo will work. Here is a couple range reports I did on it on another forum from a couple of months ago.

Well, this weekend I got a chance to try out my new 410 classic upper. I started off with some Remington 2.5" slugs and it ran like a top. After running 25 rounds with no failures to feed or extract. It was a kick in the backside of fun, knocking down tin cans at 64 yards. I then decided to try some Remington #6 2.5" Express Long Range ammo and things changed with the second shot. I experienced my first failure to extract. I clear the jam and ran the balance of the mag with no issues. I loaded up another mag and had one more failure to extract. After 15 rounds I ended up with 3 FTE. I then switched ammo once more. This time I used some Remington Premier Nitro Sporting Clays #8 2.5" ammo. Out of ten rounds I had only 1 FTE. I compared the ammo and the slugs where about 1mm shorter then either the Express Long Range or the Premier Nitro's. Over all I was pretty pleased with the performance. Looks like it really prefers the shorter shells.

A group of us went to Panoche this weekend and I brought along one of my AR 15 OLL's with my new 410 upper to see just what type of pattterns I was getting. The targets are set sideways to fit my cardboard sheet. Since I don't have a lot of experience with 410's I'm going to say that the outcome is what should be expected. I set the target up out at 25 yards and the first one I was using Remington Rifled Slugs 1/5 oz. After taking my first shot which came in low at around 4 o'clock. After adjusting the iron sights I begain to get some pretty good patterns. Wind was blowing pretty hard at times. Without a doubt I think this would be good out to 50 yards for snakes, rabbits, squirrels and other small game. Total round count was 10. The second target I was shooting Remington Nitro Sporting Clays with #8 shot. Some of the spread was outside the target. I would say that this would be a good snake, rabbit or squirrel patterns out to just around 25 yds maybe a little more. Total round count was 10.
