Remington 870 stock Q's

So I just purchased a Remington 870P (gave up on trying to find a mossberg 930 spx after my local range said they dont allow them anywhere but the plinking range... wtf) and I am trying to decide which stock I am going to get. It has to be a full stock with a pistol grip (not a knoxx, hate em). So far I have come up with the ATI stock (http://www.atigunstocks.com/p-95-sho...p-1220-ga.aspx) but I have read that the shims/adapters they use allow a lot of play in the stock that cannot be gotten rid of... I also saw a Choate stock (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=826432) that seemed to have better reviews. Lastly I found Mesa Tactical's adapter that would allow me to put AR15 stocks/grips on my 870! I would love to try a MagPul CTR/MIAD grip on my 870 but I am not at all sure how it would feel...

Does anyone have any personal experience with these, or any other full pistol grip stocks, that they could share with me? I wish I could just see/hold these 3 side by side, it would take all of 10 seconds to make the right choice then

I had a Mesa tactical stock on my 500 and it worked great. Just decided to put it back to stock instead though.

I'm pretty certain that a buddy of mine has an ATI on his 870 and works fine.

i have a speedfeed stocj and forend on my 870, came with it from the previous owner. works great with no play. and its got about an inch shorter pull over the factory stock which i find useful inside my home.

ATI = mixed bag at best. I am not a fan of ATI stocks at all. Their fore end though is, to me, a very effective and minimalist design.

I used Speedfeed for many years on LEO shotguns, and I have a Speedfeed IV mounted on my own 870. I heartily recommend them. Great equipment and fairly priced as a stock and matching fore end set would set you back less than $100 from many sources. If you prefer a shorter length of pull then go with the Speedfeed IV-S.

On Speedfeed, the 1 and 3 models have the internal 4 round shell holders, 2 and 4 models do not.

My buddy had an ATI stock and it was complete dog turd. Mesa Tactical is the way to go.

Blackhawk / Knoxx is, for some, an acquired taste. Many swear by them. I never was able to get comfortable with one on my 870. I changed out to Speedfeed, sold the Knoxx and haven't looked back. The Mesa is good gear, I'm told, but I have no experience with it.

The best thing to do is to try and fire different stocks as much as possible and find what works best for you.

Nothing wrong with the Knoxx if that is your budget but the Mesa with Endine is worth every penny. However, be warned that the Endine buffer is only warrantied for 20 million cycles. Add the Limbsaver M-4 pad and you have one of the best tactical stock set ups on the Market.

Dude, check out the promag tactical stock/forend set. It's extremely cheap and for the price, not so bad. The Mesa adapter is arguably awesome, however, it will totally change the way you and your shotgun interface. The angle of the stock changes drastically. For the better? Maybe. Depends on your personal preference. Anyway, the promag is cheap enough that if you don't end up liking it, you didn't break the bank buying it. Check gunbroker, and I think Cabela's(ugh!) has them too, probably more expensive and with pricier shipping, as a bonus. I have this set on my 870 and with the exception of the junk pistol foregrip, it's pretty good. Just a thought.
