What choke for HD?

Cylinder bore or improved cylinder is basically standard on barrels 20" or less. Longer barrels will generally have a modified choke, but long 12 gauges and the .410's have full chokes.

I'm not sure how big your house is, but I think 'defense' should be measured in feet, not yards

Unless your Bill Gates cylind bore will do just fine for anything inside the home, and it's what many(most?) HD shotguns like 18-20 inch mossberg 500s come with..
