Looking for a shotgun to hunt birds and shoot clays and be used for home defense maybe. If I can't find such a animal I guess I can get the home gun seperate. Looking at the Beretta, Benelli and Remington don't want to go over $600.

I got my Rem 870 for $350 or so and I was talking to one of the guys at turners and he said the barrel can be taken off my gun and replaced with a longer one for hunting if I wanted to. He said it would also work fine the way it is with the short barrel for hunting using a slug for deer etc. I didn`t know I could take the barrel off my shotgun so thats a plus. -

Shotgun for hunting, clays & HD
The more hunting and clays your plan on the more you should go with a 26" bbl, which in overall length will be about the length of a 28" bbl over/under or double gun.
I guarantee there have been more bad guys neutralized over the years by civilians with shotguns sporting barrels of 26" or longer than those with shorter barrels.
Learn to shoot your new gun & I also guarantee the he bad guy will never know the difference.

I would recommend either an over-under or semi-auto in case you want to shoot sporting clays. There are many guys who can shoot doubles or get off more than one shot at a covey of birds well with a pump but it is so much easier with and auto. I am a huge fan of Beretta semi-auto's and you can get the 3901 for your price range.Comment
