Recoil pad help

Hello good people of Calguns,

I have a Mossberg 500 combo 12ga (synthetic stock and forearm) and really need to put a recoil pad on it.

I think I'm going to get a limbsaver slip-on, but not sure what size I need.

A. If I get the limbsaver slip-on, what size do I need? I need to order online because my local Turners never has it in stock.

B. If you think I should get the precision fit version, why?

C. If there are any other options, besides getting a new recoil absorbing stock, then I'm open to suggestions.

Any slip on that's marked to fit a Mossberg synthetic will work.

A mounted pad is visually going to be a lot more pleasing. A pre-fit pad for a synthetic stock shouldn't set you back much more than a slip on. Limbsaver = good.

Options.... spend some time getting some instruction on how to mount the gun properly to your shoulder. That will solve a great deal of the issues you experience.

I got beat up by my 870 and got a better pad, but after a couple of more shooting sessions it wasn't needed. Spend the money a pad would cost on a lesson.

I took mine to Turners with me and they let me try on all the different recoil pads on my 870 to see which one fit the best. I believe it was a limbsaver slip on. The pads that are model specific (screw on type ) didn`t fit so well so went with the slip on and it works great.
