is there any advantage to a Remington "police style" (i think that is what it is called) forend over a regular forend?

The regular forend is longer, and can get in the way of side saddles and can block the loading port when its pulled back. The police forend is shorter and doesn't have these things, but for me, it doesn't really make a big difference. -
Yes, The longer forend can rub against the receiver if you are torquing the forend. If you are doing this you will see some rubs on the receiver.
The longer Sport forend is a benifit to shooters who have a shorter reach. Other then that I see no benifit.JD McGuire, Owner
