Has anyone ever owned one? What was your experience with the over under 12/20ga combo?

Have not owned, but have handled and fired a couple of examples in 12 gauge.

Fit and finish are okay, pointed well for me although I'd rework the stock were it mine. One example I tried patterned almost dead on to point of aim off the top barrel and close enough on the bottom to be fairly solid in my mind. There were some quality issues with them early on, but I've heard less of that as time has gone on.

If you are looking for a lower price point, entry level over / under, you might also consider CZ, Tri Star and Stoeger. There is also the Baikal / Remington Spartan, if you can find one. I shoot the snot out of my Spartan and it never fails.

Big Dog - how is the stock on the Spartan. I got one for a clients kid when they first came out and the stock looked like a hand carved 2x6. The rest of the gun seemed very well built for the price. If they have changed the stocks I can see these being a good value. It has been a few years since I have seen one.

The fit and smoothness on the wood were actually better than I expected when I bought it new. Good figure in the wood, well proportioned, no obvious woodworking "slip-ups" inside or out, hand filling and of a nice weight. The retainer and pivot in the fore end are particularly well laid in on mine. No complaints from me on those. The butt pad is not the greatest, pretty darned hard in fact, but those are easily changed.

The oil finish on the wood, on the other hand, is typically Russian. Spare and ultilitarian. Once the stock acquires a bit more character, it will be a nice project to refinish it to a higher standard.

Remington discontinued importation a while back, but there still seem to be a few rattling around and now USSG is importing them. The MP310/SPR310/IZH27 link on that page gets one to them.

Thanks for the update on this weapon there Big Dog. I was thinking the stock would have to change from the first ones as american gun byers would not go for the lumber that was coming on them. The rest of the weapon seemed very well made and with the stock change they are sure a value.

I have a Silver reserve. its pretty good. Felt a little rough but with use it loosened up.
overall I think its a good entry level gun. I take the gun out in the boonies and I am not gonna be scared if I put a scratch on it from brush etc. its pretty accurate also never gave me a problem. i had a few rapid fire but that was due from me not shouldering the gun and hurrying my shot. Looking back I think between the Mossy Silver res and the Remington I was looking at the Remi would of been a little better choice but i couldn't pass up the OTD price i got the mossberg for. if you are looking for a entry level gun its a good choice. if you want something that looks better smoother and overall just a nicer fit and finish move to something else.
For what it is designed for its a good choice. i did not care for the finish on the stock so I refinished mine.
