older mossberg 500 resto question

Hello all.. i have a question. I came across a older mossberg 500a a while back. Its been sitting in my safe for years. I wanted to make it a hd gun it has the wood stock and forend. Thinking bout a 18 inch barrel and a tactical stock set. Flip up ghost rings. Any one had issues doing any updates with something like this. I will post pix before and after. Thanks
