    Rem 1100 parts question

    I have a Remington 1100 12ga with a 22" barrel. I bought this 28" barrel:

The site text for the barrel said this: "NEEDS F200323: gas cylinder spring". It's a $4 part, so I bought it.

However, I can't figure out where to install that part (it's a C-shaped ring, picture is here: http://www.remingtoncountrystore.com...90&topcat=1038). And the description of this part says it's for a Model 1187.

I looked at the 1100 parts diagram in the Owner's Manual, and can't find a "gas cylinder spring"; the parts diagram for the 1187 doesn't appear to mention the spring either, BUT the barrel diagram seems to show something similar to this spring mounted on the structure that slides over the mag tube (the parts diagram of the 1100 doesn't show this item).

Do I in fact need this spring, and if so, where does it go? TIA for any help.

I don't know if the 11-87 has a different gas system or not.
I would imagine that if its for the 1100 you shouldn't need any new parts.
Maybe someone who knows more about this could help.

I don't think that goes onto an 1100. See numbers 12, 73, & 74 for gas piston parts.

The pic you have a link to appears to be an 11-87 barrel, the "gas cylinder spring" is used on the 11-87 but not on the 1100.

The pic or the text may be incorrect.
