Legal Shipping Rules?

I have an old shot gun. I have private party that wants to buy it and I was going to ship it to them.

Is it legal to ship a shotgun that is older than 1950?

From wht I understand it is legal..I just want to double check.

This board is quite helpful at times so thanks for any info.

It's legal.

Beyond that, the question has been answered once or twice hear in the last century.

Yes you can ship it but is the buyer an FFL 01 or 03? While it is legal to sell C&R long guns face to face, if you ship it, it has to go through an FFL.

for an instate transfer, what law would prohibit it?

No kink. If you are selling a long gun older than 50 within the state, there is no law prohibiting shipping. You are responsible for not selling to a prohibited individual, and to a California resident.........ask him.

In that case I am kicking my self in the butt, there have been three or four C&R rifles and shotguns I really wanted on the for sale forum that I decided not to get because the cost of an FFL transfer and DROS that I thought I needed would make them only ok deals.

Long guns can be shipped USPS without needing a FFL. Or, you can pay a bit more and ship UPS or Fed EX. I just picked up an old shotgun from my Post Office about two weeks ago.
