Got Lucky: Two "Steal" Deals

Just been watching the local classifieds and lo and behold

Ran across this model 870 last week, unfired, for a whoppin' $200.

The house has a scattergun now.

My gunsmith bud shortened it for no charge...said to help spread the word about his new shop.


Then some duckbutter put a Mossberg in a local ad.

Must've used it in his marsh boat cause it looked terrible.

I disassembled it, cleaned, lubed, shortened, dressed, and cold blued it.


Looks like the car gets its own scattergun now, too.

How much, you say?

I think the key is looking "often enough".

By watching my local classifieds and knowing about what time of day they update them I was able to be "first caller" on both those shotguns.

In fact, the duckbutter with the Mossberg called me as he was on the way to meet me and said, "I think I priced it too low. I've already had four calls, and they'ved offered $125. Can you go another $25 on it?".

Told him, "no problem, and to turn around and see if those other guys would actually show up with that extra $25.

Otherwise, I had $100 cash in my hand and was waiting for him.
