    CHARLES DALY FIELD HUNTER

Found a great price on a new CD Field Hunter.

But, its not all about price, is it?

I need to hear from all users / owners of CD's. Are they reliable? Are they tough? Would you buy another one? I plan on useing it for Turkey & Clays.

    Thanks.

They're no longer imported because the latest corporate parent using the Charles Daly name went kerfuffle last year. Parts and service would be spotty at best. If it's for sale it should be at a hugely discounted price because the seller, assuming it's an FFL, wants it out of his inventory.

That said, they are reasonably decent guns and a good starter. A friend has one and once it was broken in, it runs pretty well.

This gun is made in Turky same as Weatherby sa08 and Tristar, CZ and many others if you look close they are all the same. Parts can be had . Just cuz it say's Charles Daly does not mean you cant get it worked on or parts for it. They were mearly importers just like all the others. They are very good guns.

This gun was sold on gunbroker for $185. A good price for sure. But, too many questions for me, I'd rather buy a better known gun for slightly more.

Thanks to all for your responses though.

The CD Field Hunter are decent shotguns, but the problem is, Charles Daly / KBI went out of business on 29th January 2010, so you would in effect be buying a product with absolutely no warranty, or after-sales service.

At $185, by the time you've paid shipping and your dealer transfer fees, your likely to have $260 into it before DROS fees. You may as well look out for a deal on a Mossberg 500 at Big 5, or Maverick 88 Field. At least if something goes wrong, you can easily get the Mossberg/ Maverick (same company) repaired. And this is advice coming from someone who owns two Charles Daly shotguns.

Ya, like I said, I thought that it was a good deal.

But, I got the Mossy 500 12ga, 26" w hi viz sights and choke, in woodland camo for $230.
The peace of mind in haveing the Mossy is worth some extra $$$.
