Surefire Saiga 12 10 round mags

Has anyone else bought Surefire Saiga 12 10 round mags and was able to stuff one extra round in it? I two of the ones I bought were able to have 11 rounds if I stuffed that last round in. I disassembled them and figure I am going to call Surefire on Monday to see if I can swap them out. Just figured I would ask around to see if anyone else had this problem. Thanks

edit: these were purchased here in CA at a local shop in sealed wrapper from Surefire marked as 10 round magazines, so I know they were not tampered with. I know most 10 round mags have a little extra play room, but this goes over that.

Why disassemble them? There's nothing illegal about owning, or even technically buying magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

I know that there it is not illegal to own a mag that holds more then 10 rounds, but I though ( and must have misunderstood) that if you buy a mag in CA that holds more then 10 rounds then, if keeping it together would be wrong. I understand the whole ( if you find it in the woods/attic/ etc concept) but I just figured its always better to cover your ***** first. Thanks for your info.

edit: what I forgot to mention in the original post was the fact that you can not have a magazine that holds more then 10 rounds if your running a fixed mag BB weapon. Unless I am misunderstanding that too. I went through the flow chart, but maybe i just didn't read something correctly.

No, you're 100% correct on that. I understand your concern.

no, thats centerfire rifles. It does not apply to shotguns, you can legally use any magazine in them.

will they function with 11 rounds, or can you just jam one in there?

there is no mag capacity for shotguns
and it is not illegal to possess mags over 10 rounds

              I see no problem

I just tried and it won't feed properly. So nope, not functionable.

                  finally someone else noticed

i can put 11 in as well and insert it if the bolt is back and let loose with 11 shots

but its not much different than dropping one in the chamber and plopping in a mag holding 10

i could not lock it in place with the bolt forward

Not illegal, don't worry about it.

They are designed as 10 round mags with that space on purpose. The extra space is so you can load the magazine on a closed bolt as saiga 12s tend to be very hard to load that way. Yes, it has been confirmed by many people that they hold 11 if you jam an extra one in there, however you will have to load the magazine with an open bolt since there will be no give in the follower/spring. Capacity issues over ten rounds do NOT apply to shotguns with fixed magazines.

thanks again everyone for the info. I noticed that even if I hold the bolt open, insert the mag with 11 rounds it still won't chamber a shell. I'm not worried about it, I just figured I would put that out there. Thanks again

I'm confused I thought all guns/mags that are over 10 rnd capacity are illegal unless obtained before the law went into effect? Can someone explain? Thanks, CC
