    Is a Mohawk 12g. A Rem 1100?

So, I recently got a semi auto 12g from a buddy whose old lady made him get rid of it. (I told him to get a new ol lady but he don't listen) anyways he doesn't know jack about it other than what is stamped on the barrel. The thing looks like a Remington 1100 clone. The make is Mohawk. I never heard of em. The thing seems to have seen several years come n go, but hell I got it for $20 !! Anyways, I'd like to throw a new barrel on it and am curious if a Remington 1100 barrel will work. Any ideas?

As far as I remember, the Mohawk is closer to an 11-48. I'm pretty sure it is recoil operated instead of gas operated, which would mean that very few parts will interchange. I'm 100% certain that an 1100 barrel will not work, but I've been 100% certain and been wrong before.

The 1100 is gas operated and the Mohawk is recoil operated like scobun says. The barrels should not interchange. The Mohawk is a model of the 11-48 which replaced the model 11 and was made from 1949 to 1968. The 11-48 was replaced by the model 1100.

I'd keep an eye out on gunbroker.com and give Numrich a try.
