    Side Saddle?

I just recently purchased a Remington 870 after posting and doing much reading here on Calguns so thanks for all the input from everyone. I made my handgun purchase with some tips and pointers from folks here as well.

While I'm waiting for the 870 (April 7th ) I was thinking of buying a side saddle for it. I've read that the TacStar wasn't a great choice for some buyers so I'm curious on what else is out there. I've seen the name "3 Gun Gear" being tossed around but there isn't too much discussion about side saddle brands.

Also, I've seen some photos of the saddles affixed to the gun via velcro. Looks a BIT tacky but if that's the only way that's the only way.

    Any help is appreciated!

I have the Mesa Tactical 6-shell w/ picatinny rail on mine. I really like it - it's all metal (won't stretch out and come loose like the plastic ones) and super solid, plus you get a good platform for a red dot (I use a Primary Arms micro on my rail and it's perfect.)

If you want a side saddle that will last as long as your 870 then go for the Mesa tactical.

Im sure the tacstar will do just fine but ive heard that after extended use it doesnt retain shell as well.

Thanks for the tips. I think this is exactly what I'll pick up.

I think you have those two backwards.

Go Velcro, side saddle goes empty, tear it off slap, another one on. What's tacky about that??
Far cheaper than the Mesa unit too.

I have the TacStar saddle on my 870 for over 6 years now and it still hold shells just as snug as the day I got it. If you get the TacStar saddle you will have to change out the forend grip, which was not a big deal for me since I was swapping it for the surefire forend anyway.

Speaking of Side Saddles can anyone suggest a good one for a Mossberg 590? It needs to be a good one as I use the shotgun for 3 gun.
              The AR-15:
It's a Saturday night special 50 inch calibered gauge semi-automatic military style assault rifle that can fire incendiary heat seaking boolets that can blow up a jumbo jet filled with babbys and penetrate cops vests while firing full auto from the hip with its collapsible stock and pistol grip. It's the weapon of choice for gangs.

I cut my side saddle to fit without changing fore end. Didn't want to spend the money because I wasn't sure I would keep it on........5 years later, it's still there. I should mention that I don't compete with it.

Here's the best pic I have at the moment. The shells clear the fore end.
