Advantages of an Over / Under?

To me, the whole point of an O/U is prestige and snob factor at the clay sport of your choice. If you spent less than $2k, you will get noses turned up at you...may as well just bring the pump you already own.

I also like 870 trap pumps..pretty nice looking and fancy enough(for a pump) to rest on the rack next to the high dollar guns.

You miss the whole point of the o/u gun if you think it's prestiege...an o/u will make you a better shot at clay sports and at birds. If your clay field is full of snobs, find another.

Advantages of an o/u have already been posted. What can't be posted in words is how much better an o/u feels and shoots

I really like SxS shotguns. O/U are best for trap shooting, I prefer the SxS look. Most O/U aren't English stocked so they aren't as quick to shoulder like a SxS field gun.

I actually want an XT Trap, but not because I think it will improve my score. If it did help me to increase my game by one or two birds in 100, maybe it would be worth it. The real reason I'd like to have it is so I don't look like a skid row case that shops at the Salvation Army (with my pump gun). Autoloaders suck to clean and annoy people with spent hulls so forget about that.

There is little wrong with my pump, but the XT Browning actually fits my cheek great out of the box so I feel it is a good choice. Now I would like to ask people who own a Perazzi the real reason you bought it. (probably because they could afford to buy one of the best) Certainly a $10k dollar gun won't make you shoot a 100 straight more easily than a $3k piece.

The same reason people buy Cadillac Escalades over GMC Yukons and why people put $3,000 wheels and tires on a $5,000 car. Bling is King

A $10K Perazzi built to fit you might get you 1-2 clays out of 500 over a $3,000 shotgun and at the level that some people compete at that's worth it to them.

Me buying a $10K shotgun is a waste of $9K.

One of the best o/u guns out there is the Beretta White Onyx. It's based on the same action (686 iirc) as the Silver Pigeon, but it doesn't have all the fancy engraving of the high-end guns and so costs a whole lot less. It is very plain and superbly functional. You can get them new for about $1,800, or used for less.

My only complaint about the berettas is the single trigger. I'd rather have two. A two-trigger white onyx would be about the perfect shotgun, in my opinion.
