reliable and inexpensive break action side-by-side?

I know good and cheap don't belong in the same sentence, but I figure the simplicity of break action side-by-side should be inherently reliable.

I've shot a sweet Merkel, but not ready to plunk down $3,000 for one. I know EEA makes some that are in the $300 price range, how are those?

    Thanks!

Stoeger Uplander is about as well made as you're going to get in the lower end of side by sides. They make their coach guns off the same basic design and those are very well thought of.

Scroll that page down and you'll see the variety of models and the SRP's.

My dad and I used to duck hunt with Savage 311s. They were always reliable and tend to run about $300 today.

I'm actually selling a 311 right now. It's over 50 years old, so if you have a C&R FFL I can ship it to you. If you need an FFL transfer it may not be worth it for you.

But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Really, if you want something good and reliable that you can use for years you're going to have to pay for it.
My newest SXS is over 50 years old (almost as old as me), and has tens of thousands of rounds through it.

What are you going to be using it for? If you like Merkels get an older JP Sauer or Simson. They are basically the same gun and can usually be found for 500-800.
