I've got a Saiga 12 that I picked up right as the panic started (yeah, payed a little too much, but I got one). I've converted it, since it has to have the maglock on there anyway.
I used a Tapco Warsaw length (short) AK stock (which is a good LOP for me), but the cheek weld leaves something to be desired with the factory sights. I don't plan on adding anything else, so I want to use the stock sights (alright, maybe I'll epoxy one of the XS night beads over the factory bead). I really have to struggle to get my cheek weld low enough to line up the factory sights, so I was thinking, if I were to find one of the Romanian wire folders and make it so I couldn't fold it, it would be legal, correct? I understand that I can't have a folding stock and the pistol grip, but I'm curious what is acceptable to keep it from folding. The way it attaches to the trunnion it looks like I could use a longer screw in the back which would effectively immobilize the stock and keep it from folding while on the Saiga 12.
I've seen stock blocks for Sig 556's and a few others, which keep those stocks from folding, so it seems like this is an acceptable fix for rifles, but I'm not sure on shotguns. I know I could spot weld it to keep it open, but I'd rather be able to go back to folder, if I go out of state to shoot.
Anyone done this before?
