    870 Wingmaster barrel

I am looking for a 28" threaded for chokes barrel for my 1978 era Wingmaster. the gun currently has a 30" fixed full choke barrel. it was great back when I hunted Duck, but I have been hunting mostly pheasant over the past many years.

The remington site refers to two barrels Light contoured and standard, which one does my gun have now and whats the difference between the two

Standard. Go to www.gunbroker.com and enter auction number 220951745 in the search block. That is the barrel you want.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

Would a gunsmith be able to cut it down from a 30 to a 28 and thread it for a choke?

A gunsmith probably could do it, I priced threading the barrel a while back, about $80 IIRC. Barrel has to have sufficient material to allow threading, you also have to cut it and buy chokes yada yada yada

I just decided, I would rather have the original barrel in tact. A new one is only $200ish with a full, mod and IC chokes, a no brainer as far as I am concerned
