    870 express bolt material

What is the bolt of a 870 express made of?

I want to remove the finish and polish it but I don't want corrosion.

    Is it stainless?

    Thanks,
    OD

The bolt should be made out of carbon steel.

You can not remove the finish as it will rust. You can not polish it as it is as gunafficionado said, simply steel and without a protective finish it will rust within hours. If you want a polished shiney bolt then you need a plated one.

the best option is simply leave it be. If you just have to have a chrome bolt then you can find them on Gun Broker or any of the parts places.

You might be able to get it nickle or chrome plated.
