    Big 5

Big 5's got the rem 870 express on sale right now at 299.99
This along with the Remington mail in rebate for $30.00 makes it almost too good to resist for me right now.
I'm just wondering though, do you guys think its better to get it at big 5 at 299.99 plus tax dros etc., or order it from budsgunshop.com at 287.50 i think it was, no tax but shipping 25.00 plus dros etc.
ive been really looking for a good deal for an 870, and i think this is the best deal theres gonna be for a long time.
whatdya guys think i should do??
i dont really like buying high dollar items online.

I would just go with Big 5. If you buy from them then they'll know that there's a market for guns out there. That rebate from Remington is only good on things that you buy after 8/1/2007. So you'll have to wait a few days to buy it. So hopefully Big 5 will still have the sale. I couldn't wait. So I bought mine on Wednesday.

The 10 day thing really sucks. I buy something and get really excited, but I have nothing to show for it. So I buy something else while I'm waiting. That's how I got my 870.

I got mine from Big 5 also when they were on sale some time back. It's a good deal, buy local for the aforementioned reasons and to remove the hassle of shipping to an FFl and all that nonsense. It is a great gun, my favorite quote about it: "...and it will cycle a trout."

If the sale ends then they might still honor it.

Find the Big 5 that has does not have it in stock and have them write you a raincheck for it. Then you can purchase it during the rebate period.

Get it at Big 5. Then ask them to order some Hornady 12 ga 00 Buck/TAP FPD for your new purchase. They won't know what you're talking about, but it might help to incrementally coax them to start carrying more guns 'n ammo at great prices. You could also suggest they carry XS sight systems and extended mags. as well as S&W, Springfield and Kimber firearms.

assume the shipping cancels the tax, do you have and FFL that will transfer it for $12.50 or less???

Purchased one yesterday. Total came out to 360 at Big5 (shotgun, DROS, etc). The sale for Big5 ends this Saturday though.

budsgunshops charge 3% for CC, unless you are sending them a money order. I really don't like sending MO to out of State dealers. If anything goes wrong, I will be on the loosing end. My local gun shop charge $50 for online dros and $30 if I but the gun from them. If I was making this purchase, I will get it from Big 5. Don't forget! you can visual inspect the gun before buying. Hell, picking your serial number and the best looking wood is a plus!

Great point about the CC surcharge. Also, remember the FFL has to collect the sales tax anyway per our wonderful government, or you must pay the use tax. Either way, budsgunshop is actually more money due to the shipping charges.
