ATI folding stock Question

are the side rails metal or plastic on these?

The whole stock besides the hardware is plastic. I had one of these in the past its very durable but unforgiving on the shoulder when unfolded.

If you want a top folding stock for a Remington I'd recomend saving up and keep searching Gunbroker and other such sites for the Real deal LEO top folder. They are hard to find but well worth it...

If you want to put a top folder on a mossberg I's say the same thing but search for a Tri Start Cobra Tactical folder... it's an all metal top folder like the Remington LEO one

I've seen those in person, but never handled one. I wasn't very impressed, they feel pretty cheap. If you want a top-folder, I recommend the official cop version (if you have a Remington 870) there are a couple for sale on the forums here (I have no affiliation with the seller): http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=402152

Thanks guys. It's just for a "transport a lot / shoot a little" setup.
My fave "shoot a lot" ones are full wood stocked shotguns.

I have a Remington Factory Top Folding stock for sale. It's the "Law Enforcement Only" stock. The rails are metal and the pistol grip is plastic. They can be difficult to find, but there are a few here and there. PM me if you're interested.

Choate makes some of the best aftermarket folding stocks. I have one of their side folders and it is top notch.

While the factory folders are cool, they are horribly impractical and uncomfortable.

They are only useful or practical for motorcycle police who need the folders to fit on their motorcycles. There is no other point to them.

I have to disagree with most of you guys. I have this stock and its coming close to its year mark and I already have over 1k of bird, buck, and slugs down my maverick's pipe with the stock on it and have had zero issues, and I really haven been treating it all to kindly either. It's been dropped, kicked and slammed around in the bed of my truck and still works great.

First off, no its not metal and no not plastic its zytel. And the stock is surprisingly strong. The locking mech is solid despite the horror stories online about the stock unfolding in either position.

Second and this one kinda confuses me. "I've seen those in person, but never handled one. I wasn't very impressed, they feel pretty cheap." How'd that one work out? The only reason I would call this cheap is because ATI didn't take the time to smooth out the seems and edges and for the price I don't hold it over there heads. Just smooth it out with some sand paper and your good to go and it doesn't even leave scratches or scuffs of what you just did. The grip is nice and for me and I prefer it more so then any factory stock whether it be an 870 or a 500 (but that is my opinion). Like I said earlier the whole thing is rock solid.

For practicality. There's more to it then just what Mesa said. It's lighter then the factory stock my shotgun came with. It folds up for either storing it or shooting it like a cruiser. I sits nicely next to my bed (locked and all safety taken) and sits nicely in my truck with out taking up much room. I've also taken it with me on some trips (wasn't the most practical but I wanted to) and that option of having that stock folded and ready to use if I needed it was nice. How you can use it is up to you.

As for the comfort of shooting it thats all on the shooter. It doesn't bother me as much as the factory stock did. And the recoil doesn't bug me as much when unfolded and shouldered. I how ever don't have my cheek pressed up against it though (doesn't seem like a smart idea). Bottom line its up to the shooter how they handle the system, I like it though .

For the price that you can find it it's not a bad buy I got mine for $38 shipped. To top things off ATI backs there products 100% for life no questions asked and even covers shipping both ways minus the box you send it in which is free if you have one lying around.





* And for the issue that the stock doesn't sit flush with the receiver its designed that way. It sits like that so you can look down the sights/ beads if you wanted too. Not that practical but nice to have.

For the price I got it for $38 shipped and how well it's worked for me I would and have recommended this stock to others. I have had no issues with it and if I were to I have a free (both ways) lifetime warranty to use. I know its not over a hundred bucks and its not metal but if the company backs it up 100% for life and other companies use there products on there firearms and markets them( i.e. Mossy and Ruger) then it should give you some some hint that it might be worth it. But to his there own.
