So the way I read the flowchart and the doj site, a semi-auto shotgun with a PG and a folding stock makes it a no-no. Also, no more than 10 rounds with a mag extension. This is a Mossberg Jungle Gun, so 922r does not factor in. Am I correct in my interpretation?

There is no limit for capacity, however you cannot import or manufacture a magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds(this includes adding an extension). If you already legally possessed such a magazine you could install it.
But yes, your configuration is fine as long as it meets the length requirements, when in doubt just check the flowchart. -
I did check the flowchart. That's why I'm here. You say it's fine but the FC says no. The flowchart is a little confusing..

That's why I said check the flowchart, I don't remember every shotgun configuration
It isn't confusing at all, it's a series of yes/no questions. Start at step 1, if you end up at "LEGAL" then you're fine, if you answer a question and your answer sends you to a box telling you it's illegal, then you're not good to go. Just follow it in order.
(the 9200a1 jungle gun I'm aware of doesn't have a pistol grip or folding stock...)Comment

Ten seconds of Yahooing leads me to no one made a pistol grip stock for the 9200. Since the gun is discontinued finding one might be kind of hard.
Semi-auto shotgun + pistol grip + folding or collapsible stock = no go, as I understand it. The stock would need to be permanently pinned in one position.
The flowchart suggests that your proposed configuration in red above would violate PC 12276.1(a).

Forget the short barrel in the picture. I've seen other pictures but can't find any right now. I guess it doesn't really matter if it will trigger a smackdown. As far as it being discontinued, that won't matter since I have one already. I bought it around 2000.

Well that's certainly not the standard version of it, it also appears that stock is a folder, so barrel length can definitely be a concern since you still need to meet the overall length requirement. Although you'd have to pin that stock so it couldn't fold or collapse anyway so I guess the OAL wouldn't really matter.Comment

I don't want to be rude, but do you even bother reading anything that I write? I said forget about the short barrel. I asked about a pistol grip with a folding stock and you said that configuration was fine. Not according to the flowchart that you say is not confusing. It confused you. My 9200A1 is in standard configuration. I wanted to know if how I read the flowchart was correct. I just wanted to know if I could put a folder on it. It appears not. That was my main question.Well that's certainly not the standard version of it, it also appears that stock is a folder, so barrel length can definitely be a concern since you still need to meet the overall length requirement. And as I said, I read it as a "mossberg jungle gun" which doesn't have a pistol grip or collapsing/folding stock. It wasn't particularly clear that you wanted to add a folding stock and pistol grip to it.
And yes, with a folding stock and even not having a short barrel, you still need to meet the OAL, and depending on the dimensions of the receiver it's possible it might come up short with the stock folded, meaning you'd need a longer barrel than the required minimum to compensate for the dimensions. For example, if the barrel was a legal 18" long, but the receiver was short so it only totaled 25 inches long with the stock folded, it would be too short(and would be considered a short barreled shotgun for not meeting the OAL requirement, even if the barrel itself is long enough).
Like I said, read the flowchart, look at the specs of the gun including measurement and follow the chart.Comment

FWIW I wasn't concerned with the barrel. I was responding to your post about the pistol grip stock plus folder solely. Perhaps your reply was intended, in part, for someone else?
Good that you've got the gun, they themselves are a little hard to find. But there's still no drop in pistol grip stock I can find that will fit.

I wasn't referring to your post. I hadn't posted the picture yet. The pic doesn't show but you can see it if you click the link. I knew as soon as someone saw the short barrel, they would comment about it. That's why I mentioned it.
I quoted the person that I was directing my post to and I wasn't trying to be nasty to him. It just seemed like his replies avoided what I was asking.Last edited by crazy; 03-04-2011, 10:03 AM..

Got it... thanks for the clarification. Makes sense now.
And that folder would for sure have to be pinned open to be California compliant.
