    Shotgun Laws/Restrictions?

Hi Guy.. and gals. First post here in the forum and have a question. I'm very familiar with handguns and rifles but not familiar at all with shotguns in terms of legal restrictions. I own one (Benelli Vinci Sport) that I use only when my brother-in-law drags me out to shoot clays.

Now to my question. Are shotguns like handguns in terms of which manufacturer and/or model we can purchase?

For instance I can look at the DOJ list to see if the handgun I want is available to me... I know I can't buy a Wilson Combat AR-15 lower.. etc.

Does such lists exist for shotguns as well? Is it just the barrel length, muzzle type, capacities that I need to know?

Sorry if it's a dumb question I'm just clueless but want to purchase a tactical pump shotgun (not the ordinary 500/590). I really want the Wilson Combat Professional Model just don't know if I'm allowed.. jesus just saying that makes me feel like I'm 10 years old again.

    Thanks!

Based on the chart and what I just read it looks like I'm good to go.

The only major restrictions on most shotguns is barrel length (must be over 18 inches) and over all length (must be over 26 inches).

When you get into semi-auto shotguns, evil features come into play but not quite the same as with evil, black semi-auto centerfire rifles.

The specific shotguns banned by name are in the Penal Code, as are the feature triggers for semi-auto shotguns. Click the AW & OLL Guides link above, then click on the Shotgun flowchart.

The Wilson Combat Professional Model, as shown below, comes standard with a 14 inch barrel. That would be a short barrel shotgun under California and federal law. Not able to be purchased by a private party in California, only by a government agency or by holders of specialized permits issued by CADoJ, such as movie prop houses.

The Wilson Standard Model and Border Patrol Model would be good to go.
