Mossberg 5000 information

Just received a Mossberg 5000 pump from a relative.

Only know that it's over 20 years old or more. It has been wrapped and in storage for years.... it appears to be in very good shape!

I need help getting information on this gun. It's resale value, cleaning etc.

I'm new to this forum and am a handgun guy. Not savy with shotguns.

Any help or advice would be welcome!

Assuming it is a 500, what type of 500? on the bottom of the receiver(more than likely) it will say Mossberg 500A or Mossberg 500AB or something to that effect. More than likely the resale is not going to be much, it's probably going to be like selling a 99 camry (reliable as hell, but too common to be worth a lot)

clean it just like you would any other gun. if you need help field stripping look it up on you tube, there are some very good vids on t

dont fire shells that are longer than it is chambered for

treat it like any other gun in terms of safety and thats about all you need to know

I too have a Mossberg 5000. 5000... not a 500. Ther's not a lot of information on the web about this model of guns. I have seen a few online selling for around $150, so their not too expensive. I don't know how inter-changable their parts are with something like a 500. Would be nice to know since I broke the stock on mine last night.

I actually thought it was really freaking funny but not at all helpful to him or anyone for that matter - funnier even still was after the fact because there is a model 5000 and you made a totally bigger type of noob mistake than a typo making fun of him like there wasn't just because you never heard of one classic !

He was asking a pretty legit question since there isn't whole lot of info on the older model 5000 Mossberg's out there so telling him to do a search wouldn't of helped much really - I mean he even found the right section to post his question in which honestly is more than a lot of noob's do you have to admit ?!? Come on relax the sarcastic attitude if you dish it out you have to be able to take it - you were making fun of him and it back fired we were all new at one time is all I'm saying man ... If you saw someone do the same thing as you did you would have probably made fun of yourself right ?!? Its just a bit crappy that some people on this forum would rather make fun of person before they help them I thought helping each other out was what this forum was about not bashing its newest member till they don't come back or am I missing something ?

yep, its worth about 100-150 bucks if it can still shoot and nothing is wrong with it. go out and shoot it, its a shotgun!
