    Moss. 500 front sight

I put on a new sight a while ago on the front, it's one of those Hi-Viz types I got from Mossberg. Anyhow, I screwed it down and thought nothing of it. Get back from the range and notice the end of it sticks through into the inside of the barrel and it seems to be causing an issue (pic) when fired. Mostly it looks as if the bird shot is hitting the bottom of the threads.

Any thoughts or did I do something wrong on installation?

I dont know if YOU did something wrong, or the screw is just too long, but I would just file the screw down so it does not stick into the barrel.

Some sights were meant to be used on ribbed barrels hence the longer thread. Just file it down and it should be peachy.

Use a small/needle file inside the barrel. Do not shoot until it is removed.

thinking some tape and a dremel or file will do it. thanks!

The file works quickly. Watch the Dremel, in can do laps inside the barrel if it gets away from you.

Just finished, duk taped the inside of the barrel in 2 pieces to protect the bluing. Used the dremel and the small round stone and got it down to almost flush. Would say there is only about a paper thickness left. Barely feel-able in the inside of the barrel. Didn't 'lap' it at all.

                Thanks guys!
