    Ithaca Model 37 Help

I have an Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight 20 gauge. Based on the serial (1036xxx) I figure it was made in 1968. However, I know there are several variations/grades of the Model 37 and I'm not having any luck finding info on how to determine which variation/grade mine is.

The receiver has a duck scene on the left side and a dog w/ grouse scene on the other. There is checkering on the butt stock around the grip. The fore-grip has no checkering or ribbing, just a large indentation on both sides.

    Can anyone help?

Sound like a field grade. Nothing fancy but a great shotgun.

I used to have one just like that. Sold it to a friend a long time ago for about $200. Told him I would sell it to him on the condition that he never sell it because I would buy it back. He ended up giving it to his minister(if I recall correctly). I just about choked him. Nice gun, wish I would have never sold it.

Great guns. The 12 Gauge Model 37 Deerslayer Police Special was the mainstay shotgun for many law enforcement agencies. LAPD and LASD used them since the 60's. LAPD went to 870's a few years ago and LASD is transitioning to them now. The change had nothing to do with quality, but parts availability since ithaca has changed ownership several times.

I have one from the 80's and I will never part with it.
