    Saiga-12 with Bolt Hold Open.

Hey People, I have an S-12 on order and I asked about the bolt hold-open feature. I was told the one I ordered has the manual bolt hold open level installed. They have one with the last round bolt hold open installed. It's a little more pricewise, and they don't believe it will work with all the other S-12 mags on the market. I'd like the last round hold open, but if it's a headache with magazines... Any advice?

In my experience, the Last Round BHO feature is just a frill. AKs were never designed for this. It's just the way it is. To me, it isn't a dealbreaker. It all boils down to cost vs worth. If it's something you really want, and it's worth the extra charge, do it. But for me, it's not a big deal.

If it won't work with all mags, it sounds like more of a headache than a benefit. The big question is; will it work reliably with the mags it DOES work with?

from what i have heard from other people is that the mags it does work with just has an extra little tab on the follower to push up the lever on the inside - i'm sure existing mags can be jerry-rigged to accomplish this, and i bet that surefire or someone else like that will eventually be creating and selling followers that can be installed in existing mags to allow the mags to work with the LRBHO. my S12 doesn't have the LRBHO and i't not that big of a deal, but if it works it would be pretty nice. i just don't know how the mag-lock will work on S12's with the LRBHO - it appears to me that the button might be in the way.

Thanks for the replies. I'd rather not have to rig or modify something to work, or a feature that was never intended. I'll just go with the manual method.

I am pretty sure there is a tab glued to the follower I am also pretty sure there is only one person doing it, so I think you can buy these tabs seperately and attatch them to any mag with a plastic follower.

cadiz gunworks is doing this mod to siaga 12's, they advertised here a few months ago, I believe it was $125-$175. they even have video of it. I thought about doing it, but when i thought about it, I ending up just putting the money into other mods for the weapon. HK sights or a galil style charging handle is a better mod to have.
