Today was TBC's (So El Monte, CA) monthly registered shoot. Normally held on the first Sunday of the month, it was moved to today due to a variety of reasons, not least of which was the arrival of 60 new trap machines (I have feeling the Super Bowl and the big tournament in AZ might have had something to do with it too).
Since I was there to get my car washed anyway, I figured I might as well shoot. When I handed my key to the carwash guy, he said "Black Lexus, right". How's that for service?
Actually, this weekend was supposed to be a multi-day FITASC event. In keeping with that theme, instead of the usual three or four pair at twelve to fourteen stations, we shot four singles and three pairs (true & report) at ten stations. Stations 15 thru 24 all had three machines on them.
After squading up with Leonard, Carl, Bryan, Jim and Bill we headed out to shoot a few warm-up stations.
That's when I noticed that the green tube glow in the dark front sight thingy was falling off my gun. After fooling with it for a few minutes, I decided the only thing to do was pull it all the way off.
But ysr_racer, how can you shoot without that green tube glow in the dark front sight thingy?
I'm glad you asked.
I ran the first two stations and was down 8 birds after the first 50 (I should have quit there). The four and five I shot on stations 20 and 21 didn't help my score, but I managed to come in with a 77 all without the use of that green tube glow in the dark front sight thingy.
I guess when you don't have that green tube glow in the dark front sight thingy to look at, the only thing left is to LOOK AT THE BIRD !!
Mama Becker's favorite son William took HOA with a 94. Paul Pierce shot the only other score in the nineties. He took AA1 with a 91. Afterwards we all had delicious New York steak sandwiches for lunch. All in all not a bad deal for $50.
Reshoots are only $25, and I wanted to get some revenge on stations 20 and 21. As we were heading out my phone rang, it was my wife. She needed me home right now for blah, blah, blah.
I told her, "Look woman, you're not the boss of me. My friends and I are going to shoot a few more rounds, and I'll be home when I'm good and damn well ready" (on the inside). On the outside I said, "Sure sweetie, I'll be home in forty minutes. Let me just tell the guys goodbye".
And so it goes...
