It's still there. $350 FTF in San Diego.

what is the difference between a 590 and a maverick 88 with a barrel shroud and ghost rings? Anything else?

I'm not familiar with the Mav88 but the 590A1 has heavy barrel, metal trigger guard, metal safety button, bayonet lug, ghost ring, and parkerized; heat shield is not a 590A1 item.

Mossberg has different things labeled 590A1 sometimes, but those are the features that people refer to when they talk about the A1.

was wondering the same thing, haven't had a 590 or 88, I'm sure not much at all.

I've got 2 500a's and a winchester 1300, one of the 500's will be sporting a sidewinder kit and specops stock though

                      Mav 88 is a 8 shot version of 500A

BIG 5 has the Mossberg 590 on sale right now for 319.

I first was interested in buying a 199 Charles Daly, but I read some poor reviews and decided that I could easily slap down another 100 for quality.

I looked at the Remington 870, but when I asked for the Manager's opinion, he chose Mossbergs and he told me his reasons - and I completely agreed after review.

The Mossberg felt lighter. The selling point for me was that the Mossberg's slide release was behind the trigger guard and I could easily pump it without having to shift my hands.

The Rem 870 I handled had the slide release button in the front, and I had to shift too much to pump the gun - I didn't like that.
