    Remote pressure switch location

    Hi all,

I recently set up a flashlight on my 870 with a remote pressure switch and wanted to know if anyone has done the same. Looking for opinion for the mount point of the pressure switch.

Is there a specific mount point on the fore-end or just put it where it feels most comfortable for my hand? Also, what did you use to mount the pressure switch to your fore-end? Just regular double-sided 3M tape?

    thanks,

Pressure switches and pumps don't play well with each other. Cord between the switch and light tend to get a little problematic.

Although it is what I'm sticking with, but how so problematic?

        he just said it.
the cord gets in the way of the action cycle.

if the light is on the forend, that's a different story.
just mount it where your fingers go to activate it. May have to play with it some to get it where you want it to be, where it's effective, is not effected by the cycling of the action (don't want it going off by accident, and CERTAINLY don't want it coming on by accident either)
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

Is your remote cord coiled or straight? A coiled cord would give you a few more options with the slide action.

i have a coiled wire with my light mounted forward of my slide on the mag extension tube. and the pressure switch stuck to the side of the forend where my fingers naturally lie. the control is perfect for me and the coiled wire never gets in the way.

Guess I could have mentioned it in my OP, but it is a coiled cord. Light can be mounted on either side of the barrel with the mount I have.

I've had mine on my 500 Mossberg for years. My light is mounted to the mag. tube, and I "glued" my pressure switch to the forend using black rtv silicone sealant. Just put a bead on the back side of the switch, locate where you want it, use some blue painters tape and let it dry for a couple of days. Best part is you can remove easy and it won't hurt the switch or forend.
