    Holy clothing

Two of four times that new garments warn to the range were washed we found several uneven holes in them. Since I haven't been around strong chemicals or other things that could have caused the holes, is it likely to be from burning poweder/ejecta blowing back out of the muzzle of my 12 gauge's 18.5 inch barrel? What can be done about this? The range master advises that shooting buck naked is not an option.

I have fired tens of thousands of rounds of multiple types from a 12ga with short barrels and have never had anything like that happen. Shotgun powder will burn up in the first 10 to 12 inches of the barrel so I doubt shooting this weapon has any thing to do with holes in your clothes. However, If something like this is happening then you have some deffective ammo so change brands.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

Thanks. The more I think of it I believe the holes are from beating down flaming burgers on the grill, but I am going to make a mental note of what I wear to shoot in and see if it turns up full of holes when washed.

Just the opposite. The holes could be the result of holy water having splashed on me.

              Lol. Holey <> Holy.

Are the new clothes all of the same brand/manufacture? Perhaps the manufacturer use low quality/threadcount fabric and it just can't stand up to your washer/detergent.

Are the new clothes all the same fabric? Certain fabrics don't like certain detergents. Especially bleach.

              Did you switch detergents lately?

Are the holes in high friction areas?
Quick story: I noticed a lot of my sweaters that I wear to work were getting holes in the lower front... you know sort of by the crotch area. At first I thought it was my washer/detergent, but the holes were so consitent I ruled that out. Then I thought I was getting backslpash from the urinals at work and that I had some super acidic urine or something. but I'm usually really careful about that. Then one day I sat in may chair and rolled up to my desk and heard a "clack." I realized my belt buckle was pinching my sweater between it and the desk and wearing a hole right where the buckle was. Problem solved.

Thanks all. I am pretty sure that the holes must be from the b-b-q grill that was flaring up due to some cheap burger meat the wife bought, It seems that no one else reports a similar problem with a modern firearm.
