    Winchester 101 O/U.

Shotgun experts looking for a little help. Trying to get some info on a gun I bought used a good 15 or so years ago.

    What I know is it is a Winchester model 101 O/U 12 gauge 2 3/4"-3"
    Made in Japan
    screw in chokes
    Barrel 24" including chamber 27"
    SER# K543430E
Its a great handling and shooting SG.

I believe the K in the ser#. is for the plant it was manufactured, but I dont have any idea on the E or the date it was made. Also if anybody knows of an approximate value, I'd like to know. I would say it is in very good condition but does show just alittle field wear.

It was made after 1971. The last records that I have found list the May 1971 numbers starting at 150,000. Supposedly they were made until the mid 80's though.

The "K" stands for Kodensha which is the factory in Tochigi, Japan. I don't what the "E" suffix is.

Still making them ( at least to 2009) Floyd under "Winchester Select.

      OP,

Value? Impossible with the info given
The 101 was made in many configurations and grades and Condtion is a big factor.

Its like asking ...I have a Ford F150 made in 2006, looks great...What is it worth?

Not all people have the same views or opinions on K Winchesters. Myself I wouldn't drop a cent on a Japanese made Winchester. If it's has no sentimental value I would most likely turn it.

Thanks Fjold, thats all the info I've been able to come up with.

I have no idea on the grade or anything else besides what I posted above, I should have asked if anyone has seen a Japanese made 101 sell lately to gauge a approximate value. But I have no plans to sell it. It would most likely cost around $1500 to replace it with a comparable gun today.

I know Winchester took a hit when they started having allot of their firearms built in Japan, especially the model 1894. But I will say this gun is very well made with some nice engraving and is an outstanding shooter. I just wish there was more info on them.

They do make the 101 today but it is made in Belguim (sp)
