    haven't heard of them in years, 20-30 to be exact. don't know the legal issues, but i always wanted one

      Not sure who told you that, but there's all sorts of mis-information there.

      Drop test only applies to pistols.
      Thumbhole stocks are only an issue on semi-auto rifles or shotguns.
      Why would it be on the DOJ site? It's a single shot shotgun.

      These are perfectly legal to buy in CA. They're just not too popular so sometimes they're difficult to find in stores.

        I looked on the DOJ site to see if it was listed as banned, it was not listed so.... as you said I am good to go!

          Barrel is over 18" and overall length is over 26" the Snake Charmer is Ca legal. With Federal 1/4oz slugs at 1775fps with 762ft/lbs of energy, it comes close to the 357mag from a carbine.
