    shotgun muzzle brakes?

How can a shotgun safely shoot with a muzzle brake attached to the end of the barrel? I've seen saiga 12's and mossberg 500's with them. Can you only shoot slugs? How can it be safe to shoot bird shot and buck shot? Wouldn't the pellets go through the ports on the muzzle brake?

you just gotta know how to work these situations.

it should be fine. I mean you make like the shot will magically expand right out of the barrel. if your worried, just make sure the guys around you are people you dont like haha

The shot rides WITHIN the hull.

When you shoot the shotgun, the hull and the shot leave the barrel at the same time. When the hull hits the air, it opens-up (kinda like a parachute) and falls away leaving ony a cloud of shot.

Look at your shot next time you shoot your shotgun. You will usually see a white plastic thingy flying downrange. That is the plastic hull.

When you clean your shotgun barrel, make sure to scrub well to remove the plastic fouling caused by the plastic hulls.

Now you know the rest of the story.

Not to troll or anything, but it's the "shot cup" or "wad" that stays with the shot until it exits the barrel. The hull only holds the shot, shot cut/wad, powder.

            Woops!

Thanks for the correction. Just finished a long 12 hour night shift, and I was getting ready for bed when I initially responded.

I meant to say "wad". The shot rides within the plastic wad.

you should be gtg. unless the manufactuer has a spec to it that says otherwise.
