    Vang Comp

Anyone got one of his shotguns? Or have your shotgun worked by him?

Tell me about his work. Pros & cons, please? Is it worth it?

I've never had a VCS pump, but I've fired more than a few. It's worth every penny.

PRO: You have less recoil, less flash and increased accuracy.

    CON: It's not free.

A friend sent his 870 to Hans Vang for ghost rings and Vang Comp porting. The sights are very nice but the star is the comp porting. It is very, very well done. It is absolutely factory looking. It does reduce recoil and allows for faster follow ups. Yes, it is expensive but he's one of the best.

The turnaround time wasn't too bad as far as I recall.

I had mine for almost a year without shooting it. I was kinda worried I would be disappointed with how much I paid for it. Shot it two weeks ago and its worth every penny. Took some friends with me to the range, and they all want to get one now.

I picked up a used Vang Comp 870, previously a SWAT shotgun from a local PD. It had the full port, rifle sights, forcing cone work, and some other additions done to it. The felt recoil is less than on a Winchester 1300 for the same load, and the pattern is much tighter across all loads that I've tested, including low recoil LE ammo designed to limit spread over distance.

I got it for a killer price, and while I think it's exceptional for a shotgun, I would have a harder time justifying the price if I had it shipped off for the same work.
