He's offering a polish job (minds out of gutter) for your bolt (huh huh) ,FCG & bolt carrier, for $65!!!! I mean i'm sure its not that hard to do but I talked to him and he definatly knows his stuff and for $65, its a done deal...instead of me cursing about it for a week. Yes, usually it's a lot more, but I'm having a sale to get my name out.

I'll instruct anybody on how to do this, but for those who would rather have it done, I'm doing it cheap at first.

My competition, who is not quite up to par with my results was charging $165.00 for this service, so I dropped to $65.00 as an introductory offer.

Absolutely unnecessary in 99.99% of S-12s.

The polish & profile of the bolt greatly reduces effort required for insertion of rock & lock magazines on a closed bolt. This is indisputable.
Also, the rotating bolt of the S-12 is pressing against the top shell as the bolt rotates. The shape I make the bolt & the high polish aid greatly in reduction of friction. Picture rolling an octagon pressed against shells as opposed to a sphere.
This is a type of modification that Mike Davidson of MD Arms recommends if a person is having issues with Drums running very light loads due to a drum mag's increased spring pressure.

A correct hammer profile is required for the operation of the Saiga 12 when it's converted, being as the Tapco G2, even the Tromix modified version, is a different sized hammer than the Saiga 12 comes with, therefore when a regular G-2 hammer is dropped in an S-12, there is a sizable gain in resistance to the carrier when it travels backward, and this can cause short cycles & weak cycles which lead to increased FTE.
This is a leading reason for guns shipped to Cadiz Gunworks for warranty repair of RAA S-12s. Many professional converters have even failed to properly profile the hammers & the guns end up in Tom Cole's shop for warranty work, but they're not covered because the conversion was done improperly.

Tuning the extractor aids in a smoother action & helps guns go into full battery when a US mag has a hiccup nearly causing an FTF & the gun still shoves the shell in, but lacks the power to lock the extractor over the shell's rim.

The trigger job reduces friction where the end of the mainspring legs press against the trigger legs as the trigger is pulled, thus resulting in a smoother, less grainy trigger pull. Polishing (without removing material from) the upper surface of the hammer, where the disconnecter grabs it can also aid reliability, being as the hammer is less likely to get hung up in the disconnecter causing the trigger to not fully reset. When this happens, the shooter must push the trigger forward to completely reset the trigger. The root cause can be a lack of oil on the trigger axis, a bur between the axis pin & trigger-sleeve, or a mainspring leg walking to the center of the trigger legs just slightly, resulting in less leverage from the mainspring to reset the trigger. However less force requirements & a smoother FCG may just be the difference between the trigger working or not at a vital time when one of these variables arise.

But please don't get me wrong.
I do not tout this modification as a fix-all of any kind.
That's what another guy does & it makes me sick.
If a gun's undergassed, nothing other than correctly sized gas ports will make it reliable. The factory approved port size for RAA's warranty repair center is 3 @ .093. The four port guns were for the most part, modifications done from the importer before they reached the market for a short time before the Russians began releasing them with 3 ports. Unfortunately, they come over with undersized ports quite often.

However, although unnecessary, to make a factory S-12 function how it was intended to function from the factory, with a fixed buttstock & running higher powered ammos like those found in Russia, many enthusiasts & survivalists prefer the option of running very light loads if that's all they have available (or want to pay for) & having a highly tuned firearm. Also people like running drums reliably without having to change spring settings between light & heavy loads Some S-12s run well out of the box, others don't. There's always room for improvement until one reaches the point of having a perfectly tuned S-12.
This service is just a couple steps in that direction. There's still work left to do at the gun to get to the point of being perfectly tuned, but still durable.

The steel that the carrier is made out of is an alloy called 30HRA.

It is a unique steel that's close to a stainless, yet not quite.
It's not prone to corrosion like many steels are.

30 HRA is employed because it's soft enough to not be brittle but hard enough to be very durable & VERY strong.
It's really a facanating steel until one goes to weld on it. Gas will not weld it. Tig is best & the method I employ when needed to repair them.

One could treat it, however this is not necessary.
Mine has been bare for over a year & I've not had any issues with corrosion.
I shoot in the rain quite often & one time I stored it in my case when wet & didn't open it for a week. When I did open it, the moisture had condensed & everything was soaked. condensation was all over the gun being as my case is rather tight (fender guitar case). I still have never had corrosion issues.
